Keeping fit
Picture right: After an early moring run through the vinyards.
Liz has enjoyed sport since she was at school and in her younger days put in a reasonable performance at both orienteering and road running, finishing well placed in a number of half marathons in the 1980s.
Liz used to run with Andy, who was a natural and later with Tony, and then with Louise who appears to have inherited her father's natural ability. Liz and Louise used to enjoy running together on Sundays throughout the year and every day when they were on holiday in France, but now Louise thinks she is too good for Mum. Fortunately for Liz her friend Hazel doesn't mind the fact that she is slowing down and they enjoy lunch time runs from the office.

Racing again !!!
In August 2006 Liz seriously injured her right knee and was unable to walk for several months. After surgery,  "aggressive" physio, lots of effort and encouragement from Hazel she gradually got running again and albeit very slowly managed to complete the Gravy 6 in July 2007 (with only one stop to manipulate her knee). Now she runs regularly and  has now completed a number of road races including the Potter's Arf half marathon which she used as an opportunity to raise money for Douglas Macmillan Hospice. See photos: Potter's Arf , other races also in the Running Album of the Gallery.

Studying.
 xxx

From Sept 2002 to June 2006 Liz spent most of her time studying. She studied for a post graduate diploma in law on the College of Law's distance learning course and from September 2004 she studied on Staffordshire Universities part time evening Legal Practice Course. She graduated in July 2006 gaining a distinction and Law Society award.

Genealogy
For the last year Liz has taken a break from studying and resumed her family history research and spent time developing and on-line database. You can see the results in the genealogy section of this site.
This is the heron that ate all our fish.
Gardening
Gardening was once one of Liz's major pastimes but she got out of the habbit when Andy was ill and then while busy studying. Else where on this site you can see some of the previous gardening achievements. Sadly now the garden, while not totally neglected receives only the minumum attention. Even the greenhouse is under-used. Maybe one day...!
Andy runningLouise with trophies Following in father's footsteps and with the same vest too! I bought the Helly Hansen for a trip to Iceland in 1982 and it has been through three subsequent owners including Andy (far left running in the Wilmslow half marathon 1984, then Tony and now Louise and it shows no sign of wearing out.

I wonder if they still make them. I think the technology has moved on since then.

Right: Liz and Louise before the start of the Staffs Moorlands Summer Series race at Tittersworth (8th June 2006).
